Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned, high-caliber Head of Legal & Compliance, APAC to lead our legal and compliance functions across the Asia-Pacific region. As a key member of our regional leadership team, you will be responsible for safeguarding our business operations, mitigating risks, and enabling sustainable growth in a dynamic B2B market.
With 12+ years of experience, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior executives, manage a high-performing regional team, and ensure that our business practices align with both local regulations and global standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Legal Advisory & Corporate Governance
Provide strategic, practical, and commercial legal advice to the APAC leadership team on corporate, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.
Oversee corporate governance for all APAC subsidiaries, ensuring corporate filings and board matters are handled seamlessly.
Manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions effectively, optimizing legal spend.
B2B Commercial Transactions
Structure, draft, review, and negotiate complex B2B commercial agreements (e.g., enterprise sales contracts, vendor agreements, strategic partnerships, and licensing).
Standardize contract templates and streamline the contract approval workflow to support the regional sales team.
Compliance, Ethics & Risk Management
Design, implement, and monitor a robust regional compliance framework tailored to B2B operations (including anti-corruption/FCPA, data privacy, anti-trust, and trade compliance).
Conduct internal investigations, risk assessments, and compliance audits; deliver regular compliance training to regional employees.
Monitor legislative changes across APAC and proactively assess their impact on the company’s business model.
Leadership & Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop the APAC legal and compliance team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and high performance.
Align regional legal goals with global legal strategies and business objectives.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 12 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with a mix of top-tier law firm training and in-house experience in a multinational corporation (MNC).
Industry Knowledge: Proven track record in a B2B environment (e.g., SaaS, Tech, Manufacturing, Industrial, or Professional Services).
Leadership: At least 3-5 years of solid team management experience, with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-border or remote teams.
Education: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Master of Laws (LL.M.) from a reputable university. Admission to a recognized bar (e.g., PRC, HK, Singapore, US, or UK) is required.
Languages: Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory as it is the primary working language. Proficiency in Mandarin or another APAC local language is highly desirable to support regional stakeholders.
Soft Skills: Strong commercial acumen, exceptional negotiation skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, matrixed environment. Excellent communication skills to bridge global headquarters and local execution.
